Carl Forrest Davis

MILO and MELBOURNE, Fla. - Carl Forrest Davis, 91, died May 7, 2011, at a Melbourne, Fla., hospital. A retired Air Force colonel, electrical engineer and educator, Col. Davis was born May 12, 1919, in Milo, the son of Eben and Alice (Pearson) Davis. He married Madalene (Mayo) of Milo in 1945 and went to Indialantic, Fla., after his retirement from the Air Force in 1974. He was employed as a systems engineer at Harris Corp. for a period of 11 years, retiring in 1985. Joining the, during, he served in North Africa and Italy as a communications officer in the 325th Fighter Group. During the, he was a communications and electronics officer in an Aircraft Control and Warning Group, Okinawa, R.I. After receiving master's and doctorate degrees in electrical engineering from the, in 1960, he spent the remainder of his career in education and electronics research. He served as a tenure associate professor of electrical engineering at the, Academy for a period of eight years and directed research on the effects of nuclear events on weapon systems as chief of the electronics division at the Air Force Weapons Laboratory, Albuquerque, N.M. While at the Air Force Academy, he was the author of the text used in the core electrical engineering course sequence. Among his military awards and decorations are the Legion of Merit with one Oak Leaf Cluster,, Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Ribbon and Korean Service Medal, as well as battle participation awards and campaign ribbons for service in North Africa and Italy. He was a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and a member of the Scientific Research Society of America and the American Society of Engineering Education. Upon moving to Indialantic, Fla., he helped establish a Boy Scout troop and was its Scoutmaster for many years. This was one of his most rewarding efforts and he followed the successes of his former scouts with considerable interest. He was heavily involved in community affairs pertaining to his homeowners association, serving for many years on the various committees and the board of directors. He also was a volunteer officer in a municipal water company at his summer home in Maine. He pursued an active interest in the history of the Civil War and family genealogy during his later years. He is survived by his wife, Madalene of West Melbourne, Fla.; a daughter, Gail (Davis) Gannon of Melbourne, Fla.; a grandson, John William Gannon of Sarasota, Fla.; many nieces and nephews. Friends are invited to call noon until the time of funeral service 2 p.m. Thursday, May 12, at Lary Funeral Home, Milo, with the Rev. Michele St. Cyr officiating. EDDINGTON - Carleton A. "Sam" Tardiff, 70, died May 7, 2011, at a Bangor health care center. He was born Nov. 5, 1940, in Bangor, the son Of Walter R. and Rose M. (Bell) Tardiff. Sam, as he was known, served in, from 1957 to 1962 at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. He served as a deputy in Eddington for Penobscot County Sheriff's Office. Sam owned and operated Eddington Autobody for 40 years and drove a school bus for Dedham School. He was also an avid fisherman. Surviving are one son, Michael Tardiff and his wife, Lisa, of Eddington; a grandson, Nicholas Tardiff of Holden; five brothers, Ronald E. Tardiff of Alamagoodo, N.M., Gerald E. Tardiff and Walter G. "Skip" Tardiff, both of Holden, Frank J. and Philip A. Tardiff, both of Eddington; one sister, Frances Vittum of Holden; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two sisters, Anita Lapan and Lois Vail; and three brothers, Vaughn, Michael and John Tardiff. David Michael Cyr Sr.

MILO - David Michael Cyr Sr., 64, died unexpectedly May 5, 2011, at his Milo home. He was born Oct. 3, 1946, in Hartford, Conn., son of the late Claude and Therese (Labbe) Cyr. David grew up in Windsor, Conn., and graduated from Windsor High School in 1966. He moved to Etna in 1969, where he built a home for his family. He was an avid hunter and was always in pursuit of the "big swamp buck." Often when you looked for him, you would find him riding the backcountry roads in the evenings and telling those hunting stories. He loved playing backgammon and horseshoes, as well as penny poker with the family. Christmas was always his favorite holiday and he always made it special. David enjoyed riding motorcycles and snowmobiling. He was an experienced woodsman and spent long hours working in the woods. David was a loving father, who always enjoyed attending and following sports events of his children while they were growing up. You would often hear him brag about how proud he was of them. He is survived by his wife, Tenia Cyr of Milo; the mother of their children, Barbara Crossman of Bangor; his children, Theresa and husband, Raymond Crossman, of Hampden, David Cyr Jr. of Brownville Junction, Jason Cyr and his wife, Jessica, of Bangor, Betty Ann Cyr of Florida; a special grandson, Jake Duffin Cyr; his two sisters, Susan and her husband, David Hart, of Bangor and Sandra and her husband, Steven Boudreau, of Vienna; three brothers, Llewellyn Cyr and his wife, Pam, of Carmel, Gary Cyr and his wife, Terry, of Newport and Steven Cyr and his friend, Heidi, of Carmel; many nieces and nephews; their beloved four Chihuahuas, Coco, Molly, Shadow and Baby Girl; and a cat, Sci Fi. David will be forever missed and fondly remembered by his family and many friends as being a very caring and giving person. He always made sure he told his family he loved them. He enjoyed fishing and camping, was a clock collector and loved animals, especially his trusted German shepard, Baby, who was always at his side. Helen Hoyt, Bacon Black, 86, WEST BALDWIN -- Helen Hoyt Bacon Black, 86, of Senator Black Road, passed away on May 8, 2011., She was born in Waltham, Mass., on Jan. 3, 1925, the daughter of Lewis and Vera Bacon. Helen's family moved to Hiram in 1936 and she attended Mt. Cutler Schools. She graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1942 and Gray's Business College in Portland in 1944. Helen worked at First Portland National Bank for three years., In 1947, Helen married Henry W. Black and moved to Briarcliff Farm in Baldwin. She and Henry ran a highly successful Jersey farm for over 50 years and were extremely active in farm activities throughout Maine and the nation. Mrs. Black accompanied her husband to many political activities during his tenure in the Maine State Senate., Mrs. Black was a member of the Hiram Universalist Church; her grandfather, the Rev. Hervey H. Hoyt, was pastor there for many years. She was also a member of an artist's club, the West Baldwin Grange and the Baldwin Women's Extension. She was a long time chairperson of the Extension and meetings were held at her home. Helen remained active in the Fryeburg Fair for decades and served as an assistant in the livestock office., Helen was predeceased by her husband, Henry; and a daughter, Valerie J. Ellis. She is survived by two daughters, Maggie Black and Dianne Dunning of West Baldwin; and three grandchildren, Aaron Dunning, Rachel Dunning and Davis Ellis., Per her wishes, there will be no visiting hours or funeral services. Jeanne Merrow, KENNEBUNK -- Jeanne Merrow died peacefully on Friday, April 29, 2011, as she had lived, on her own terms and with her great spirit unbowed., Born in New York on Jan. 26, 1927, Jeanne graduated from Emma Willard School and Russell Sage College. After spending time in California and New York, she moved to Maine in 1963. She first settled in Wells and later moved to Ogunquit where she raised her children., Jeanne owned and operated The Travel Company of Maine in Kennebunk for 25 years, working alongside close friends Pat Weare, Meredith Rogers, Nina Durgin, and Barbara Meserve until she retired in 2003., Jeanne loved to travel, and had wonderful memories of trips to exotic places with great groups of friends and clients from throughout southern Maine., Jeanne loved to laugh, and she was known for her great intelligence and wit. She often saw the humor in difficult or ridiculous situations. Jeanne welcomed many to her home, and the summers spent around the pool with friends and children's friends from Ogunquit are the stuff of local legend. At her holiday table, one usually found extended family, friends old and new, and the occasional stray. Jeanne loved politics and was a steadfast Republican. She always enjoyed a spirited political discussion and woe to the Democrat who might express dissent., Jeanne loved animals and loved to garden. Over the years her home was shared with beloved cats and dogs, including Alice, Tozie, Pasha, Clancy, and Malley. She spent much of her spring and summer with her pets in her wonderful gardens 'on the mountain.', Above all, Jeanne loved her friends and family. She was a generous friend, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all, especially friends, Shirley Ducharme, the Weare family, Ian and Polly Mackenzie, and Meredith and Jack Rogers., Thank you to all who cared for and visited Jeanne during her time at Southern Maine Medical Center and St. Andres Healthcare. Jeanne leaves daughters, Melissa Libby of Richmond, Kate Scarano and her husband Dan of Flemington, N.J., her son, Lucas Merrow and his wife Robin of Rollinsford, N.H.; grandchildren, Nathan Libby, Sophie, Katherine, and Martha Merrow, Heather, Joshua, and Sarah Scarano, Amanda and Matthew Langois; and great-grandchildren, Zoe and Max Libby., As per her wishes, Jeanne's ashes will be scattered at sea, followed by a private family celebration of her life. Kate Swift, 87, EAST HADDAM, Conn. -- Kate Swift, a writer and editor who was a pioneer in the feminist analysis of language, died on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, Conn., after a brief illness. She was 87., A resident of East Haddam since 1972, Swift was a life-long summer resident of Georgetown., Beginning in 1970, Swift worked as co-author with Casey Miller, writing numerous articles and two books on the English language and its relationship to the status of women. Their work examined the male-dominated evolution of English usage and the ways it defined women negatively as secondary, irrelevant, or invisible., Articles by Miller and Swift on sexism in language appeared in the New York Times Magazine, the Washington Post, Ms., New York magazine and others, and their work continues to be reprinted in anthologies and textbooks today. Their book 'Words and Women' was first published in 1976 (Anchor Press/Doubleday and Co.) and in an updated edition in 1991 (Harper Collins). In their 'Handbook of Nonsexist Writing' (Lippincott & Crowell, 1980; Harper & Row, 1988; The Women's Press, London, 1981), Miller and Swift suggested alternatives to standard usage detrimental to women. She attended Connecticut College, New London, and was graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1944. She then served two years in the United States, as an information and education specialist and was honorably discharged with the rank of sergeant., From 1946 to 1948 she wrote and edited publications for the Port of New Orleans, then worked for five years in press information for the Girl Scouts of the USA national headquarters in New York., Kate Swift, In 1954 she was employed as a science writer on the public affairs staff of the American Museum of Natural History. For the next 11 years she was press liaison for the museum's Hayden Planetarium during the opening of the space age. She moved to Connecticut in 1965 to join the news bureau of, , where she headed the press office of the Yale School of Medicine until 1970., Swift and Casey Miller formed a freelance editorial partnership in 1970 as writers and editors of publications for nonprofit institutions in the fields of education, health care, and environmental issues. In a period of increasing awareness of common language practices that ignore or denigrate women, Miller and Swift helped clients to solve problems of gender-related usage with accuracy and grace. Miller died in 1997., During the 1995 United Nations 4th World Conference on Women in Beijing, Swift was a member of the National Organization of Women's delegation to the Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO) Forum held in Hujairou, China., In 2003 she helped organize the East Haddam chapter of the Middlesex County Community Foundation's Fund for Women and Girls. A long-time activist in the pro-choice movement, she recruited and coordinated a busload of Connecticut participants in the March for Women's Lives, Washington, D.C., in April 2004., More recently she worked as a volunteer coordinator for Love Makes a Family, a nonprofit advocacy group seeking legislation to grant marriage equality in Connecticut to committed partners of the same sex and their families. She was also active with Stonewall Speakers, a group whose members discuss LGBT issues informally with students in school and college classes., Swift is survived by a brother, John L. Swift of Georgetown; a half-sister, Marguerite Swift of Flagstaff, Ariz. and Georgetown; and three generations of nieces and nephews.

Kenneth McKinnon Read Jr., 89, OCEAN PARK -- Kenneth McKinnon Read Jr., 89, of Ocean Park, died on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House., The son of Kenneth McKinnon Read Sr., and Edna Dorrance Read, he was born in Newark, N.J. on June 24, 1921.He grew up in Berkeley Heights Park in Bloomfield, N.J., graduating from Bloomfield High School in 1939 and then, with a major in Chemistry in January, 1943. That winter, he enlisted in the Naval Reserve, ending his service in, in the South Pacific in air operations., He returned home and worked briefly for a cosmetics firm in New York City. His search for a more spirit-led career led him back to Princeton Seminary from 1947 to 1950. He held associate pastorships in Washington, D.C. and Bloomfield, N.J., before being called to begin a church (Limestone Presbyterian) in Wilmington, Del. There, he and his new wife, Edith Frey Read, began a life together and had two sons, Bruce McCullough Read and Kirk Dorrance Read., Ken and Edith met during his time in the church in Bloomfield where she was the contralto in a professional quartet. Edith's gorgeous voice and inspiring vocal ministry were a source of great joy and pride for Ken throughout their 40-year marriage. Edith died in November of 1995., For most of his pastoral career, Ken served in the Dryden Presbyterian Church in Dryden, N.Y., retiring in 1983 and then settling in Ocean Park, where he then served for several years at First Parish Church in Saco as Minister of Visitation., Ken was a quiet, friendly and compassionate soul throughout his entire life. Ken's vocational gift was in abiding with his parishioners throughout the seasons of their lives. He welcomed newborns into the church through countless baptisms; he married scores of friends, family and community members; and he comforted generations of bereaved families whose loved ones passed on; many church members and friends welcomed, Kenneth McKinnon Read Jr., the sight of Ken's bright red sedan pulling into their driveway for a call on both joyous and troubled occasions., Ken was a friend to all, and his unconditional positive regard for all those he encountered was exemplary. His quick wit lightened many a heart and softened potentially difficult encounters. Ken was principled, brave and gracious., He expressed great disdain for bigotry and intolerance, challenging his own denomination on what he felt were unjust and unloving policies on sexual orientation: he testified publicly several times to this injustice at some personal and professional risk and became a tremendous role model for many in his faith communities., Ken gave of his modest financial resources to many individuals and institutions in need, and quietly questioned extravagance and profligacy in the face of poverty and financial inequities both in his community and in the world at large., Ken is survived and remembered dearly by his sons, Bruce (Arundel) and Kirk (Auburn) and spouse Camille Parrish; four granddaughters, Hannah (New York, N.Y.), Alice (Biddeford), Helen and Anne (Arundel); their mother, Laura Butterworth (Kennebunk); and his twin nieces, Betty Eaton (Nashville, Tenn.) and Jean Reese (Franklin, Tenn.)., There are no calling hours. MILLINOCKET and BREWER - Louise M. Pratt Hawkins, 85, went to be with her Lord May 8, 2011, with her loving family by her side. She was born Aug. 27, 1925, in Millinocket, the daughter of Clinton Haines and Mary (Cusack) Haines Dow. Louise graduated from Stearns High School and attended First Congregational Church, Millinocket. She worked as a hair stylist, was a seamstress and quilter, and was an exceptional homemaker and cook. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends who lovingly called her "Ma." She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren and in recent years, her great-grandchildren. Louise was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and was a gentle spirit who was especially kind to all. BANGOR - Malcolm "Mal" E. Jones, 81, passed away peacefully May 8, 2011, at Maine Veterans Home. He was born Aug. 23, 1929, in Athens, to Wallace E. and Clarice H. Jones. Mal graduated from Somerset Academy, Athens, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business administration from the University of Maine in 1952, followed by service in the U.S., in Korea. Upon his release from military service in 1954, he became employed by Bangor Savings Bank as a teller and messenger. Subsequently, he held numerous positions leading to election as executive vice president, a member of the board of trustee in 1971, and president and CEO in 1975. In 1995 he retired as president and trustee. He served the savings bank industry in many capacities, including chairman of Savings Bank Association of Maine and a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Mutual Savings Banks. He participated in various organizations, including past president of United Way; member of board of trustees of Eastern Maine Medical Center; board of directors of Eastern Maine Healthcare, president; University of Maine Foundation, president; Phillips-Strickland House, president; member of board of directors of Training and Development Corp.; Bangor Center Development Corp.; Bass Park Corp.; City of Bangor Civil Service Commission and Service Review boards; member of board of trustees of Katahdin Area Council of Boy Scouts; member of Bangor, ; and member of the Merchants' Association. Mal was recognized for his contributions to banking and the community with many awards throughout the course of his long career and residence in Bangor. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara (Porter) Jones; two daughters, Pamela and Lisa, and their husbands, Glenn Correll and Gordon Simmons; grandchildren, Sabrina and Michael Correll, and Amber and Vaughn Simmons; a sister, Ellen Jones; one nephew and numerous cousins. She enjoyed camping; she and her husband had belonged to the Good Sam's Camping Club for many years. DALE CITY, Va. -- Matthew Wayre Fowler, 50, of Kirkdale Court in Dale City, Va., passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011., He was born in Waterville, Maine, on March 7, 1960, the son of the late Floyd B. Fowler and Carol J. (Mathieu) Fowler., He graduated from Mt. View High School in 1979., As a child, Matthew was a Cub Scout, enjoyed playing baseball and won first place in a soap box derby. After leaving Maine, he came to Alexandria, Va. He worked briefly at many grocery stores and restaurants before moving to the Lorton-Dale City area., Matthew worked at the Safeway in Dale City for the past five years., He was a good worker and will be missed by his friends there. He was employed at Potomac Mills for many years before that., Matthew enjoyed wrestling, trying to figure out the system to win the lottery, reading and writing poetry, Christmas music and announcing the daily specials over the PA system while at work in the deli at Safeway. He loved sending cards to family and friends on holidays and always won the unspoken contest to see who would send out Christmas cards first each year., Matthew had a kind and loving spirit, and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Matthew leaves his mother, Carol Mathieu Fowler of Unity; his sisters, Lauri A. Fowler and Linda Thomas of Reston, Va., Sherri L. Merritt served with the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955 as a staff sergeant during the, . Upon returning home, he went to work for Houlton Savings Bank, thus beginning a 34-year career in banking. He was a longtime member and past treasurer of Military Street Baptist Church, a past noble grand of Rockabema Lodge No. 78, member of Grand Encampment of the Atlantic Provinces and a member of Monument Lodge No. 96. Merritt is survived by his wife, M. Louise (Stairs) Lenentine of Houlton; two sons and their wives, Mark A. and Michelle of Sidney and Peter O. and Katharine of Gaithersburg, Md.; two sisters, Elva Coburn of Houlton and Alma Hutchinson of Cape Coral, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kaileigh, Taylor and Tess; several nieces and nephews. MADBURY, N.H. - Mildred (DePerry) Clark, 79, passed away Friday, May 6, 2011. Millie was born April 2, 1932, in St. Francis, daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Taggett) DePerry. Millie was a dedicated wife and mother, and one of her greatest loves was the time she spent with her family. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening and being the historian of the family. Millie will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Millie married Robert "Bob" F. Clark, Feb. 16, 1952. Millie and Bob traveled the world living and visiting many places, such as France, Germany, Okinawa and many U.S. states, however no matter where, she always said, "I'm a moose towner from Northern Maine," and this is where her heart always stayed. In addition to her husband of Madbury, N.H., Millie is survived by her three children, Dorothy H. Lovejoy and husband, Larry, Sheila R. Clark and fiance, Brian, and Robert F. Clark Jr. and wife, Jenny; six grandchildren, Renee Lovejoy, Helena Bachelder, Larry Lovejoy, Lance Lovejoy, Jessica Ajemian and Taylor Ajemian; and two great-grandchildren, Nathyn Lovejoy and Noah Bachelder. Norman Kaye Wing, 78, PORTLAND -- Norman Kaye Wing passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011, at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, surrounded by family, after a courageous five year battle with cancer., Norman was the youngest child of the late Augustus Major Wing and Velma (Bowden) Wing Zelko. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Shirley (Wing) Olmstead, and his brothers, Bernard Wing and Augustus Major Wing Jr., Norman leaves behind his beloved wife, Lorraine (Moulton) Wing whom he met early in his life. They attended junior prom together. They married on July 2, 1951, and would have celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. They raised 10 children together., Norman was born in Gray in 1932, attended schools in Portland and was a National Guard member from 1949 to 1952. He was a cutter and lead man for Songo Shoe in Portland and played for and managed the company's softball team. Norman worked for Brookfield Athletic, Herman Shoe, and L.L. Bean, where he retired in 1989. Norman was a champion cribbage player, loved to bowl, play pool and horseshoes and had a passion for old TV westerns. He enjoyed gardening and cooking, waking early on the weekends to start his day. He loved to sing and dance and was always the life of the party. He played Santa Claus for his grandchildren most years. GARDEN GROVE, Calif. -- Paul Anthony Ferris, 50, of Garden Grove, Calif., passed away on Monday, May 2, 2011, at Garden Grove Hospital and Medical Center, after a sudden illness., He was born June 13, 1960, at Thayer hospital in Waterville, Maine, the youngest son of Deeb David and Sumayah (Nawfel) Ferris of North Vassalboro., Paul spent a happy childhood with his siblings, and attended Carl B. Lord Community School. He graduated from Oak Grove Coburn High School in Vassalboro, in 1978. During his senior year in college, he studied intensive French at Laval University in Quebec City, PQ, Canada, and received a bachelor of arts in international affairs and French from the University of Maine at Orono in 1982. He received his MBA from UMO in 1988. Later, he received a Certificate in Piano Teaching from Fullerton College, studied music at Chapman University, and most recently, was a month away from completing his masters in choral conducting from California State University in Los Angeles., In college, he participated in Army ROTC and was later commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the Army, where he served for two years, and served several more years in the Army Reserves., In 1987, Paul met the love of his life and future wife, MaryAnn Atallah. He later proposed in Maine, and they were married on July 8, 1989, at Our Lady of Mt. Lebanon Cathedral in Los Angeles, Calif. They were blessed with one beautiful daughter, Sumayah Josephine, in 1990., Paul was a devout Maronite Catholic and a faithful parishioner of St. John Maron Church in Orange, Calif., for many years. He was also a member of the National Apostolate of Maronites (NAM). He served in a variety of roles: as editor of the NAM News, on the NAM Board of Directors for several years and as a regional vice president., During his lifetime, Paul had a number of interests, including theater, writing, composing, history (especially theology) and writing. In addition, he pursued a number of different professions, but the consistent theme throughout was music and music education. Music was his passion and part of his daily life. Paul's dedication to his daily piano practice was to be admired. Growing up, he filled the family home with the sounds of his beautiful music. Paul's vocation as an organist began as a young teenager at St. Joseph's Maronite Catholic Church in Waterville. He became an accomplished pianist and organist and served St. John Maron Church, as well as St. Justin Martyr in Anaheim, for many years in that capacity. He was also a music director and a member of the Celebration of Life Singers at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Garden Grove, Calif. He often served as an accompanist, especially for his daughter Sumayah, who shares his love of music., Paul was predeceased by his father, Deeb David Ferris., He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn (Atallah) Ferris; his daughter, Sumayah J. Ferris; his mother, Sumayah N. Ferris; siblings Tom Ferris and his wife, Nympha, Maria Bouchard and her husband, Frank, Allison Crate and her husband, Stephen, Richard Ferris, and Catherine Berryman and her husband, Brian; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Surviving in-laws include Maroun and Josephine Atallah; Therese Armstrong and husband Charles; Joseph Atallah and two nephews., In celebration of Paul's life, a memorial Mass will be held on May 14, 2011, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Maronite Church on Front Street in Waterville. In California, a funeral Mass for Paul was held on May 6 at Hilgenfeld Mortuary in Anaheim. His body was laid to rest at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery in Orange, Calif. Rita Farrell, Desilets, 90, SANFORD -- Rita Farrell Desilets, 90, of Sanford, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011, at the Greenwood Center. She was born in Sanford on Aug. 4, 1920, the daughter of the late Bernard and Delia (Dichard) Farrell., Rita attended Mount Merici Academy in Waterville and graduated from Sanford High School in 1937., She was an active and lifelong communicant of St. Ignatius Church. She was also instrumental in organizing the annual Penny Sale for the parish. She was one of the first women to work on bridge cranes at the South Portland Shipyard during the war. When she retired she was employed as a mender for the former Goodall Mills., Rita was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Paul E. Desilets in 1992. She is survived by her son Bernard and his wife Betty, along with their two sons, Bobby and Michael, all of Fryeburg. She is also survived by her daughter, Suzanne Matthews, along with her two sons, Tyler and Jason, all of Sanford., Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. Morey in Portland where she spent the majority of her adult life before moving to Westbrook in 2003., Rose worked at Brown Ship Chandlery in Portland, retiring after more than 40 years. Rose was a communicant of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception., Rose was predeceased by her husband, Frank J. Morey; a son, Daniel J. Morey; and a granddaughter, Deanna. She is survived by a son, Michael A. Morey and his wife Susan of Oakland, two daughters, Elizabeth A. (Morey) Soper and her husband William of Gorham, and Kathryn R. (Morey) Vento and her husband Charles of North Yarmouth; a sister, Mary J. 'Terry' Gaudet, 73, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2011, at Carlton Shores Health and Rehabilitation, in Daytona, Fla., following a brief illness., He was born on Sept. 10, 1937, in Rumford, to the late Terrance and Henrietta Gaudet. He attended South Portland Schools., Terry served in the, . Upon returning to Portland, Terry married his first wife, with whom they had four children. After an annulment, Terry united in marriage to the late Pauline Goudey Gaudet, with whom they raised her four children in Portland. After the death of his wife Pauline, Terry united in marriage to his wife, Rita Berry-Gaudet., Terry had many talents and loved the outdoors. In his early years, Terry worked doing vinyl siding and construction. He later developed an undying love for driving tractor trailer over the road. For the past 17 years, up until the time of his death, he drove for R.C. Moore Trucking, Scarborough. He previously worked for Bancroft Martin, Cianbro Corporation Construction, Hutchins Trucking, Prowler Trucking, and Lily Trucking., Terry was a member of St. Joseph's Church of Portland. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose, and served as club president. He was a member of The American Legion of South Portland., Terry is survived by his loving wife, Rita of Port Orange, Fla. and Portland; his son, Gregory Goudey and his wife JoAnn of Freeport, his daughter, Deanna Rogers and her husband Byron of Raymond, his daughter, Francine Goudey and her husband Roger Jones of Portland; his daughter-in-law, Nanci Goudey of Scarborough; four brothers, Gary and his wife Eve, Keith and his wife Nancy, John and his wife Betty, all of Westbrook, David and his wife Romona of South Portland; and eight grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Megan, Nathan, Michael, Douglas, Amanda and Stephen. LINCOLN - Timothy F. Davis, 60, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 7, 2011, doing what he loved best, fishing. He was born Dec. 23, 1950, the son of Blaine A. and Ottalie (Morrill) Davis. He graduated from Mattanawcook Academy in 1969. He worked for his father at BA Davis Garage, West Enfield, and for more than 40 years at Lincoln Paper and Tissue. Timmy lived life to the fullest, enjoying his many, many friends. He was a former member of The Chargers band. He loved dancing, singing, socializing and all outdoor activities. He especially enjoyed his four-legged companion, Libby Girl.
