Ann Louise (Crichton) Karter, 70, PHIPPSBURG -- Ann Louise (Crichton) Karter, 70, of Phippsburg and Osprey, Fla., died on April 29, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer in Boston, Mass., She was born to the late Philip and Angela (Donahue) Crichton Dec. 17, 1940, in Presque Isle., She is survived by her beloved husband of 47 years, Eli; five children, Mary (Mike) Huth of Pittsfield, Mass., Elizabeth (Shawn) Murphy of Eaton, Ohio, Kate (Mike) Orroth of Davidson, N.C., John (Jennifer) Karter of Chicago, Ill., and Michael Karter of Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; siblings, Mary Crichton, Steve Crichton, Clare (Alan) Hitchcock, Peter (Jennifer) Crichton, and Angela Ellen (Chris) Delong; and numerous nieces and nephews., Ann graduated from Aroostook Central Institute in 1959. She attended the University of Maine, graduating with a BSE (English) and a Master of Arts in Teaching. While raising her children, she pursued her teaching career for 10 years. She then directed her energies to volunteer work in the various communities in which she resided., One of her most notable accomplishments included being named to the Top Ten Women by the Ohio House of Representatives. This distinction recognized the following: Co-chair, Designer Show House 6, for the Dayton Philharmonic Women's Association; Chair of Dayton Art Institute Art Ball; and campaign chair of the Dayton Performing Arts Fund. She served on the board of the Dayton Chapter of the American Red Cross and was awarded Volunteer of the Year, Board member of the year and recipient of the 10 year service award for financial development and leadership., She also served on the board of Carillon Park and the Dayton Ballet. Fraternally she served as president of her PEO chapter in Dayton, Ohio, and most recently as president of her chapter in Sarasota, Fla., Throughout her life, Ann fought courageously, loved deeply and gave selflessly. Barbara E. Kimball

BREWER - Barbara E. Kimball, 86, wife of the late Wilfred Kimball, passed away May 1, 2011, after an extended illness. She was born Sept. 25, 1924, in Bangor, the only child of Charles and Madeline (Thompson) Merrill. Barbara was a graduate of Brewer High School, Class of 1942. She was a lifelong citizen of Brewer and a member of First Congregational Church of Brewer since 1947. Barbara was also a member of Volunteer Circle of Kings Daughters and volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital for 13 years. She is survived by her son, John Kimball and wife, Priscilla, of Holden; her daughter, Janet Kimball of Brewer; daughter-in-law, Ruth Kimball of Orrington; two grandchildren, Lisa Kimball of Old Town and William Kimball of Brewer; stepgranddaughter, Angela and her husband, Tom Unger, of Seattle; five great-grandchildren, Cody, Nathan, Anthony, Silas and Hazel; sister-in-law, Jackie Kimball of Falmouth; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, James Kimball; and special cousin, Charlotte Cross. Funeral services will be held noon Thursday, May 5, at Brookings-Smith, Brewer Chapel, 55 South Main St., Brewer, with the Rev. Grace Bartlett and Pastor Carl Schreiber officiating. Bertha Louise Burnham*

Bertha Louise, Burnham, 102, HOLLIS -- Bertha Louise Burnham, 102, passed away on May 2, 2011, at Southridge Living and Rehab. Center in Biddeford., She was born in Patten on June 2, 1908, and became the adopted daughter of the late Charles and Susan (Gibbs) Jellerson, two years later. She attended Gorham schools and went on to work at the Hollis center corn shop and overall shop., On May 29, 1928, she married Chester Burnham in Gorham. Bertha spent her married life as a homemaker, sewing most of her children's clothing and taking in washing and ironing from the neighborhood. She will always be remembered for her cooking talents, especially her special banana oatmeal cookies. She also wrote for what was then the Sanford Tribune, writing about local events., Bertha was also known for making home knit mittens for her grandchildren and neighborhood children, making crazy patchwork quilts of all sizes and pot holders for everyone., Mrs. Burnham was the current holder of the Boston Post Cane for the town of Hollis., She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Chester C. Burnham; a son, George Burnham; and a granddaughter, Corinna Bolster. Bertha is survived by her children, Rita Anderson of Hollis, Hazel Fritz of Hollis, and Leroy Burnham of Lyman; grandchildren, Louisa Anderson, Ramona Snell, Wanda Rounds, Harry Anderson, Julie Mitchell, David Fritz, Cynthia Burnham, Karen Davis, and Chester Burnham; and 12 great- grandchildren., An hour of visitation will be held on Saturday, May 7, from 1-2 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. funeral service at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, located on the corners of Rts 202 and 4A (13 Portland Rd.) in Buxton (Bar Mills). OAKFIELD and ROCKY HILL, Conn. - Carl Morton, 87, died April 30, 2011, at Rocky Hill Veteran's Home, Rocky Hill, Conn. He was born Nov. 9, 1923, in Howesbrook, the son of Moses and Vanessa (Porter) Morton. While in Maine, he worked for Bangor and Aroostook Railroad. After moving to Connecticut, he worked in factories as a foreman. Carl served in, as a corporal in the Army, serving in Company A, 594 Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment in the Philippines. He is survived by a very special friend and caregiver, Mike "Angel" Colon; two brothers, the Rev. Donald Morton Sr. and his wife, Evelyn, of Mapleton and Gordon and his wife, Cherrylyn, of Oakfield; one sister, Rita Pratt and her husband, Robert, of Oakfield; several nieces and nephews. LISBON FALLS - Doris V. Carberry, 81, died Friday, April 29, 2011, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in Gilead. Born Feb. 16, 1930, in Berlin, N.H., she was the daughter of Henry and Matilda Brodeur Alphonse. In 1948 Doris graduated from Berlin High School and married Clifford H. Carberry, her husband of 22 years, with whom she had five children. A devoted mother, she was an accomplished ice skater and bowler. Doris also enjoyed square dancing. As a military spouse, she traveled extensively throughout the eastern U.S. and Canada, enjoying many rich experiences, ultimately settling in the Brunswick area. In Brunswick, Doris worked at Grand City department store until moving to Lisbon Falls in 1968. Later she worked at Brunswick Naval Air Station and Holiday Inn until her retirement. Always active in retirement, she frequently traveled with her daughter, Marie, throughout the U.S. For the last several years, she and partner, William Kramer, wintered in Florida, where they developed friendships with other "snowbirds" from around the country. For the last three winters, they were joined by Marie and her fiance‚ Dick Turgeon. Doris' summers in Maine were spent gardening in the back yard, bird watching and spending time with family and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Jeannine Carberry Cohen, in 1999; and a brother, Gustave Alphonse, in 2004. She is survived by son, Gary Carberry of Lisbon Falls; daughter, Barbara LaChance and partner, John Gill, of Richmond; daughter, Marie Carr and fiance‚ Richard Turgeon, of Somersworth, N.H.; daughter, Karen Carberry and partner, James W. SEARSPORT - Edith V. Jackson Verrill, 90, died May 1, 2011, at a Belfast hospital. She was born March 11, 1921, in Searsport, the daughter of Clifford and Winifred (Fredericks) Jackson. After graduating from Searsport High School, she worked in Boston while living with her sister, Hazel. Upon returning to Searsport, she worked many years for her brother, Clifford, and later in life as a caregiver to numerous friends and relatives. Edith enjoyed being outside taking long walks, working in her yard and feeding the birds. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Verrill, who died in 1972; her four brothers, Warren "Skipper" Jackson, Clifford Jackson, Alton Jackson and Harrison "Bunny" Jackson; her two sisters, Hazel Greenlaw and Mildred Jackson; a niece, Dorothy Zito and two nephews, Earle Jackson and Harrison Hahn. AUGUSTA -- Elaine Catherine Weymouth, 57, of Augusta, died Sunday, April 24, 2011, at the Androscoggin Hospice House, in Auburn., Elaine, an Augusta native, was born March 30, 1954, to Walter and Edna (Savage) Greene. Elaine attended Cony High School. She was a very kind woman who loved God, her family and her friends with every ounce of her being. She enjoyed cooking, scrapbooking and most recently started to paint. Painting brought her peace and she shared her art with many family members and friends. Elaine was loved by many people and those who knew her would say she had huge heart and passion for those who took the time to know her better., Elaine was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, James H. Weymouth Sr. and her daughter, Cheryl L. DEXTER - Fay Towle, 85, died April 29, 2011, at his residence as a result of an ATV accident. He was born May 2, 1925, in Dexter, a son of the late Wallace and Eula (Levenseller) Towle. Fay worked at Fayscott Machine Shop, Dexter, and also worked for many years as a grader operator for H.E. Sargent Co. He was also a well-known strawberry farmer. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening, and telling stories. Fay loved to make people laugh. He is survived by two daughters, Betty and husband, Douglas Mills, of Dexter and Melanie and her partner, Annette Cormier, of Dexter; grandchildren, Cassandra and husband, Steve Curtis, of Dexter, Douglas Jr. and wife, Adrienne Mills, of St. Albans; one great-grandson, Scott Robinson of Dexter; two great-granddogs, Gino and Doby; a brother, Bernard Towle of Dover-Foxcroft; nieces, nephews and cousins. Faylene Alice, Perkins, 86, BRUNSWICK -- Faylene Alice Perkins, 86, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, died with her family at her side at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick on April 30, 2011, of complications from chronic pulmonary disease., Faylene was the only child born of Watson and Mona (Burgess) Nickerson in Belfast on May 16, 1924. She attended Crosby High School and her love of education led her to attend one year of post-graduate work there as well., Following high school Faye married Rodney F. Black and began work in secretarial positions until her children were born a few years later. They moved to Presque Isle to be closer to her parents who often looked after her children while she worked in the office and the Maine Potato Growers Association., After divorcing, Faye, her parents, and her children moved to the central part of the state where she married Harold Perkins and worked for New England Tel & Tel Company for several years. Before she retired in the 70s, Faye worked as the Comptroller for the Crowe Rope Company in Warren. Following retirement, Faye and Perk spent time traveling all over the Eastern Seaboard in their motor home before finally settling in Ruskin, Fla. After she was widowed, she returned to Maine to be closer to her family., Faye has left a legacy of friends from her many travels. Friendliness was one of her biggest strengths; she drew people to her with her warm smile, infectious laugh, and her ability to touch people's hearts and lives. As a younger woman, she liked nothing better than having parties where she and others would gather around the piano to sing as she played., Faye lived an eventful and very full life. She was very adaptable and resourceful, making important adjustments in her life in order to provide for her children. She was a determined, independent and courageous woman, who was also direct and straight- forward in her dealings with others., Faye enjoyed learning new things, and continued to do so even as she aged, writing emails to her friends and surfing the net on her new computer. The passions in her life included her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren (all of whom she had special nicknames for), eating lobster and rooting for her beloved Boston Red Sox., Faye was predeceased by her husband, Harold Perkins. She is survived by her son, Bruce W. Black and his wife Linda of San Marcos, Calif., her daughter, Roxie M. Black of Cumberland; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many special friends. She will be sorely missed., A celebration of her life will be planned for later in the year. She married Chauncey Erskine in 1938 and together they had four children. She taught English and French in the Winslow school system for many years, and was active in local civic organizations including the Winslow Grange, where she was known for her cooking and baking, especially her whoopee pies and molasses cookies. In later years, she was an avid reader and enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles and playing dominoes., She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Chauncey; and daughters Mary Krueger and Patricia Erskine. She is survived by son Thomas Erskine (Edna Quinn) of Portland; and daughter Judith Jackson (Gordon) of Clermont; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grand children., A 2 p.m. memorial service will be held on June 13 at Winslow Congregational -- United Church of Christ, 12 Lithgow St., Winslow, ME 04901-7149; 872-2544. BRUNSWICK — Frances Clark Hokanson, age 90 of Douglas St., died at Sedgewood Commons on Friday, April 29th. Fran was born in Melrose, Massachusetts on September 16, 1920, the daughter of George S. and Bessie Baillie Clark. She was raised in Quincy, Mass. and graduated from Quincy High School in 1938. She attended The Charles School for secretarial studies in Cambridge, graduating in 1941. Fran began her professional career at a local bank and then accepted a position as receptionist in the Bursar's Office at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It was through that connection that she met her boss's son, Wolcott A. Hokanson, Jr.-known to all as "Hokie." On April 5, 1947, Fran married Hokie, moved to Brunswick and took a job at Bowdoin while Hokie finished his studies at Bowdoin. After short stints back in Quincy, New Haven, CT, and Long Island, NY, Fran and Hokie settled permanently in Brunswick.

BUCKSPORT - Frederick L. Wasson, known to all as Bim, died April 30, 2011, at his home. He was born May 11, 1920, the son of George H. Wasson and Daisy (Gott) Wasson. An, veteran of, , he served in Germany and France in the 294th Signal Corps, landing at Normandy Beach, and was recipient of the, . Bim was an incredibly hard worker. In addition to working 30 years in the Bucksport paper mill, he worked his farm, raised beef cattle, cut meat and worked in the woods. He loved playing with tractors and was the happiest when he was with Langdon working in the woods. Bim is survived by three daughters, Diane Chandler of Bucksport, Meredith Shaw of Albuquerque, N.M., and Luann Wasson of Bucksport; sons-in-law, Langdon Chandler and George Shaw; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; one brother, George "Hornet" Wasson Jr. of Bucksport; and one sister, Doris Knight of Katy, Texas. Bim was predeceased by his wife of more than 50 years, Florence Mildred Wasson; and two sisters, Aline (Wasson) Maccirio and Margaret (Wasson) King. Bim's kind spirit and sense of humor will be missed by all. Georgette C., Mailman, 85, SACO -- Georgette 'Georgie' Mailman, 85, of Saco, passed away on Sunday morning at her home after a lengthy illness. She was comforted by family and friends continuously during her last days., Georgette was born in Biddeford on Dec. 9, 1925, the daughter of Emile and Aurore (Jariz) Grenier. She and her identical twin sister, Pauline, were inseparable during their childhood years., She met the love of her life, Earle Mailman, when she was 23 years old. They were married in Biddeford on Sept. 5, 1949, and just recently celebrated their 62nd anniversary together., Before starting a family, Georgette worked briefly at Kesslin Shoe in Kennebunk. She also worked at the soda fountain at Liggett's Drug Store in Biddeford, where she and her twin were known as the 'Toni Twins.', Georgette and her family spent most of their summers at Little Ossipee Pond, owning and operating the Leisure Motel for many years, where Georgie looked forward to an afternoon swim, boat ride or nap., Upon her husband's retirement, Georgette and Earle wintered at their home at Lakeside Ranch in Winter Haven, Fla., where they often got together with friends. Dancing with Earle at special holiday gatherings at the club house was one of Georgette's favorite Florida activities, along with going to flea markets, dining out, attending concerts and playing shuffleboard., She treasured spending time with her children and grandchildren, kidding around with them whenever she had the opportunity. Her sense of humor was infectious., Georgette is survived by her devoted husband, Earle Mailman; three sons, Gordon Mailman and his wife Joyce, Steven Mailman and his wife Patricia, and Wayne Mailman; her seven grandchildren, Tony Slowik, Jana Mailman-Keegan, Mindy Mailman, Randy Mailman, Courtney Mailman, Garon Mailman, and Krissy Mailman; her two great- granddaughters, Maci Gould and Avery Keegan; and her twin, Pauline Audie. ROBBINSTON and WINTERPORT - Glenna Mae Churchill, 96, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Calais Regional Hospital. Glenna was born April 19, 1915, in Sangerville, one of eight children to Elwood and Mae (Priest) Bragdon. She graduated from Sangerville High School, Class of 1932, and Maine School of Commerce, Class of 1933. She worked as a secretary for Bangor Hyrdo until she got married to Edward Churchill in Bangor Oct. 23, 1939. They lived in the Brewer/Bangor area until moving to Winterport, where they resided for 54 years. While in Winterport, Glenna was a substitute teacher and was instrumental in starting the school lunch program. She was active in St. Gabriel's R.C. Church, Winterport, where she served as treasurer, taught Sunday school and was a member of Daughter's of Isabella. Glenna enjoyed reading, sewing, knitting, quilting, crossword puzzles, spending time with her family and traveling. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her seven siblings; and a son, Edward Barry Churchill. Harold Lee Goggin, 66, of West Forks and Randolph, died unexpectedly from a heart attack on April 28, 2011. Harold was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada on Jan. 8, 1945, the oldest of five children of Lee and Eleanor (Eagles) Goggin., Harold was a 1963 graduate of Gardiner Area High School and served in the Coast Guard. He spent 25 years in the Line Department at Central Maine Power Co., retiring in 1995. Harold had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing, and his love of the outdoors led him to spend most of his retirement years at his camp in the Forks. Harold enjoyed time with his grandchildren, sharing his knowledge and skills of hunting and fishing. In addition, Harold enjoyed snowmobiling, target shooting, and was meticulous at reloading. Prior to her retirement, she was unit manager of personal care at Artman Lutheran Home, Ambler, Pa., and then director of nurses at Front Royal Family Practice, Front Royal, Va. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Elberton, Ga. She served on the board of Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation, and was a member of the Iris Garden Club and Elberton Historical Preservation Commission. Left to cherish her memories are her husband, David L. Cole; sons, David L. Wormwood Jr., of South Paris, passed away at his residence on May 1, 2011, with his loving family by his side after a long battle with cancer., He was born on April 13, 1937, in Kennebunk, to John and Laura Wormwood. In his younger years he was employed at shoe shops and tanneries. He was, and always will be known as 'Jonny Be Good.' He enjoyed fishing and camping with family and friends, but most of all, he loved hunting with 'the Boys.', John was a tinkerer and loved to wheel and deal. You could always find him working on his tractors. He would fix them up and paint them and make them 'Brand New.' His favorite toy of all was his bulldozer. If anyone needed anything fixed, they would take it to John. He could make anything run., He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years, the late Arline T. Wormwood; and his son, Joseph Wormwood. He is survived by his nine children; sons, John of Norway, Raymond of Ottisfield, Michael and partner Todd of Portland, Jason and his wife Becky of South Paris, Joshua and his wife Janice of Oxford, daughters, Laura Poire and her husband Ron of Enfield, N.H., Theresa Derenburger and her husband Dale of Waterford, Jennifer and her friend Josh, Jillian and her friend Josh Both of South Paris; his brother Edmond and his wife Marge of Dayton; and his special friend, Daphne Martin and family., 'Johnny Be Good' you will be in our hearts forever., Per the family's wishes, services will be private. Joseph Anthony, Dadiego, 63, PORTLAND -- Joseph Anthony Dadiego passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2011, at his home. Joey was born in Portland, the son of Anthony Joseph and Rose Marie (Pinkham) Dadiego. He attended Scarborough schools and then moved on to do various jobs throughout his life. He loved to be outside enjoying every person and animal he came in contact with. One of his most admirable qualities was his sense of humor. He was able to see the funny side of just about everything and brought that humor to those around him., He was predeceased by his parents; brother Tony, and sister Diane. He is survived by his daughter, Danielle Dadiego of Portland; his brothers, Bobby Dadiego, Michael Coffill and Shawn Coffill of Portland; and several nieces and nephews. Judith (Eldridge) Carter, 75, CHELMSFORD, Mass. -- Judith (Eldridge) Carter, 75, a longtime resident of Chelmsford, Mass., and Kennebunkport, passed away on Friday, April 29, 2011. She was the wife of the late Carleton L. Carter who died in 2004., She was born in Melrose, Mass., on July 17, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Samuel W. and Beatrice (Clark) Eldridge. Judith was a graduate of South Portland High School, and Westbrook College in Portland., Judith began her career with the Town of Chelmsford, as a reporter for the News Weekly. For the next seven years she held various positions in Town Hall, and later retired after serving 23 years as an administrative assistant for the Chelmsford Board of Selectmen., Judith is survived by her three children, Stephen E. Carter and his wife Susan of Maynard, Mass., Susan E. Carter of Chelmsford, Mass., and David W. Carter and his wife Marni of Jacksonville, Fla.; four grandchildren, Joseph, David, Jared and Erin Carter; her sister, Sally W. Kenneth F. Morgan

BANGOR - Kenneth F. Morgan, 70, passed on April 30, 2011, at his home. He is survived by his beloved hiking and life partner of 30 years, Richard D. Strout. Summiting Mount Whitney and Long's Peak, backpacking the Grand Canyon, exploring all the trails of Baxter State Park with it's jewel Katahdin and Acadia National Park so many times, as well as so many more special places was their ultimate joy. Ken graduated from Old Town High School in 1959 after attending Herbert Gray Elementary School and Bradley Grammar School. He was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Maine with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and government. A Fulbright Scholarship enabled him to attend the University of Erlangen, Germany, and a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship at, led to an Master of Arts degree in history. After teaching history for a few years in the University of Maine System while pursuing further graduate education, he spent 35 years with the Maine AFLCIO advocating economic, social and environmental justice for all. Ken was a union brother of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1837, seeing the solidarity of all brother and sister workers as the key to the good society. A lifelong liberal and humanist, he co-chaired the progressive Dirigo Alliance for many years. In addition to his partner, Rick, Ken is survived by his revered big brother, Charles and wife, Jerie, Ken's second sister. He cherished his niece, Cherie Grimm; and his nephews, Jim, David and Rick Morgan and Mark Brissette and their beautiful families. His many dear cousins remained close from childhood. He was predeceased by his perfect parents, Filmore and Lillian Morgan; his precious sister, Verna and brother-in-law, Don Brissette; and his one-of-a-kind, brother, Cy and sister-in-law, Myra Berry. Richard W. 'Rich' Wells,, Maj., USMC (Ret.), 66, TOPSHAM -- Richard W. 'Rich' Wells, Maj., USMC (Ret.), 66, died on Friday, April 29, 2011, at his home on Twin Pond Road., Perhaps best known as a devoted N.Y. Football Giants fan, he was also an avid runner, skier and golfer. He was married to Carol (Joy) Wells., Rich coached track as an assistant at Lisbon High School from 1975 to 1977 and as the boys' coach at Mt. Ararat High School from 1983 to 1996. He could often be seen on early morning runs along Topsham streets with his group of running buddies. In recent years he served as a volunteer driver for Coastal Transportation., In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by his son Daniel and his wife Lisa, and his granddaughters, Sophie, Clara and Josie, all of Topsham; and by his son Andrew and his wife Angie, and his grandchildren, Jackson, Jude and Maire, all of Marshall, Mo., Rich was very proud of being a United States Marine. His Marine Corp. service influenced him the rest of his life. He was a long- time member of the Brunswick Golf Club where he walked the course and carried his own bag. He often kidded his golfing group for not having their shirts tucked in neatly like Marines or for not having their belt buckles aligned properly. He liked to get real haircuts at barbershops, not trims at beauty salons., He was born on Oct. 2, 1944, in Greenport, Long Island, N.Y. He was the son of Herbert Jr., and Norma 'Polly' (Sammis) Wells. His father was a Cadillac/Pontiac dealer, and Rich always drove Pontiacs., He graduated from high school in Southold, N.Y., and then attended Springfield (Mass.) College where he received a BS is Health, Physical Education and Recreation in 1966. It was there that he met Carol, his wife of 44 years. He also received a Master's in Education from Springfield in 1967. While at Springfield he was co-captain of the cross-country team in 1965 and a graduate assistant coach of the team in 1966., He joined the USMC during his graduate year at Springfield College. He graduated from Officers, Richard W. Wells, Candidate School (OCS) at Quantico, Va., in 1967 and from Naval Flight Schools in Florida, Mississippi and Texas in 1969., From May of 1970 to March of 1971 he served as a fighter pilot in Vietnam, flying approximately 110 combat missions. He also served for three months as a Forward Air Controller for the Korean Marine Corps. Rich continued his active duty career as a Flight Instructor at VMFAT-201, Cherry Point, N.C., He was released from active duty in 1972. From 1975 to 1978 he served as an Active Reservist in VMA-322, South Weymouth, Mass., and for the next 10 years he served in the Individual Ready Reserves until his retirement in 1988. He often attended meetings and ceremonies of local military groups., Following his military career he worked from 1974 until 1999 for United Service Life Insurance Company and its successor, Reliastar Insurance Company. In 1999 he became a Financial Planner and Life Insurance Specialist for Allstate., In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, Rich is survived by his mother Norma of Southhold, N.Y.; his twin brother Roger Wells and his wife Theresa of Dewitt, Mich., his brother Herbert Wells III and his wife Christine of Reno, Nev.; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Thornton of Madison, Wis., and Marie Trudel of Kittery; and by a number of nieces and nephews. His father Herbert died several years ago., Rich was an active member of North Harbor Community Church in Topsham., A memorial celebration will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, at the Orion Performing Arts Center in Topsham. CASTINE - Maureen "Reenie" Mainen, wife of Michael Mainen, died April 26, 2011, surrounded by her family at her home. Maureen, the daughter of Frank and Mary McFadden, was born and raised in Mt. Lebanon, Pa., a suburb of Pittsburgh. Maureen was an artist and educator. She graduated from Brown University in 1963 and earned a master's degree in clinical psychology from McGill University. She practiced school psychology in Todd County, Minnesota, before moving to Maine in 1978. She taught in Winterport and Newburgh schools before retiring in 1995. Maureen studied art at the University of Maine in the early 1980s and found her true calling as a sculptor. When she and her husband moved to Castine in 1994, she found the perfect setting to work and enjoy the natural beauty of Maine. In addition to her husband, Mike, and golden retriever, Blue, Maureen will be missed by her son, Zachary and his wife, Susana, and baby of Lisbon, Portugal; her son, Andrew and his girlfriend, Rie, of California; two sisters, Patricia and Jeanne and their families of Florida; a special niece and nephew, Jan and Tad Wood, and their family of Annapolis, Md.; many special friends near and far. A memorial celebration will be held at a later date. Noice Everett, Eastman, 92, PORTLAND -- Noice Everett Eastman, 92, went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2011., He was born on Jan. 24, 1919, in West Brownfield, the son of Noice and Lillian (Barton) Eastman. He graduated from Bean Memorial High School in 1939. He worked for Armour & Co. from 1939-1942 until he joined the Army Air Core, serving in Valley England as a Weather and Teletype operator during WWII. After the war he returned to Porter where he went into business for himself. Moving to Portland in 1949, he went to work as a builder for Martin Bartley until 1954., He married Barbara Ruth Kelley in 1950 and they had two daughters. She predeceased him in January 1966., For 21 years he was employed with Waning & Son Builders, during which he was foreman for many years., He married Lois Johnson in April of 1967. OLD TOWN - Rachel M. Francis, 71, joined our father April 29, 2011, in heaven, after a lengthy, yet courageous battle with lung disease. She was born April 28, 1940. Rachel, a dedicated homemaker, inspired stories of how she touched the hearts and lives of those she came in contact with. She loved bingo and spending time with her family and friends. Rachel was a devoted wife of 42 years to Joseph S. Francis Sr., who predeceased her only two weeks ago. She is survived by her children, Susan, Troy, Chris and David; and grandchildren, Kaylie, Dakota, Sydney and Isabella. She is also survived by her sister, Connie Stinson of Vermont. DOVER-FOXCROFT - Raymond F. Homchuck, 79, passed away April 29, 2011, at a Bangor health care facility. He was born March 9, 1932, in Houlton, the son of Frederick and Olga (Garber) Homchuck. Raymond graduated from Houlton High School and Ricker College, Houlton. He went on to graduate from Washington University, St. Louis, and from the University of Cincinnati. Raymond served his country in the U.S. Air Force. He worked for AT&T for 31 years until his retirement. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary June (Muller) Homchuck of Bangor; brothers, Rudy Homchuck and wife, Betty Ann, of Dover-Foxcroft, Peter Homchuck and wife, Ada, of Monticello, Paul Homchuck Marcia of Haynesville; a sister, Jeannette Delong of Monticello; several nieces and nephews. Roy, 82, of Waterville passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 1, 2011, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta after a brief illness., She was born on May 18, 1928, in Waterville, the daughter of Alphonse and Marguerite (Bourgoin) Collette. She graduated from Waterville High School in 1946., She married Robert J. Roy on Oct. 29, 1956, in Waterville, and together they had four children. For many years, she enjoyed attending family activities and sporting events. She had a kind, gentle way and a wonderful sense of humor. Her contagious laugh could light up an entire room. She enjoyed trips to the Maine coast and spending time with her grandchildren., She was proud to be employed by New England Telephone Co. in Waterville for 27 years, where she met many lifelong friends, retiring in 1984. After retirement, she was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, where she volunteered her time for the audio books for the blind program., She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Roger Collette; and her husband, Robert J. Roy, who died in 2005. Rita is survived by her sister, Glenna Gervais, of Waterville; four children, Colette Hart and her husband, Garrett, of Waterville, Steven Roy and his wife, Brenda, of Waterville, Peter Roy and his wife, Lisa, of Oakland, and David Roy and his wife, Kathleen, of Waterville. He is survived by his wife, of 50 years, Josephine (O'Leary) Marsh of Greenville; a brother and his wife, Tom and Nancy O'Brien of Virginia; sisters-in-law, Barbara Travis and Ellie O'Leary, both of Massachusetts; and a brother-in-law, Daniel O'Leary of New Hampshire; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Ronald Marsh Jr.; and a daughter, Ellen Marsh. AUGUSTA -- Tabitha A. Edmondson, 30, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 23, 2011, at her home. She was the most wonderful, loving, caring, special wife and mother that could ever be. She was the most beautiful person inside and out. Dan and Tabitha's special place was Bermuda where they vacationed several times yearly., She was Dan's soul mate and his best friend. Dan loved her with all his heart. Dan and Tabitha were inseparable and cherished every minute of every day together. Dan felt like he was the luckiest guy in the world to be married to Tabitha. There are no words to describe the love Dan had for her and the pain he feels without her. Dan will love her with all his heart forever and his heart will be permanently broken without her. She was the love of his life. Tabitha loved spending time with her husband and family. She doted and adored her son, Wyatt, and stepchildren, Bo and Taylor. Dan and Tabitha enjoyed going for walks together and taking their son to the park. They all meant the world to her. They loved her with all of their hearts. She was born in El Paso, Texas on Oct. 15, 1980, the only child of William and Leanne (Hutchings) Choate, to whom she meant the world., Mrs. Edmondson was a graduate of Hall-Dale High School, class of 1998 where she was Salutatorian of her class. She was the co-owner of Maine Professional Hearing Center and The Perfect Gift with her husband, Dan for the last eight years. Tabitha had an artistic gift and talent that she used to create beautiful and personal gift baskets that allowed her customers to express their love and appreciation for others. She had a passion to make each and every gift basket with love and care. Tabitha was very artistic and creative. She loved dance and art and especially gardening. She was also an unbelievable cook., She is survived by her husband of six years, Daniel E. Edmondson of Augusta; her son, who was everything to her, Wyatt E. Edmondson of Augusta; two stepchildren whom she loved dearly: Bo D. Edmondson and Taylor D. Edmondson of Augusta; her parents, William and Leanne (Hutchings) Choate of Farmingdale and paternal grandparents Richard and Virginia (Blake) Choate. She was predeceased by maternal grandparents Conrad and Mary (Morang) Hutchings; mother-in-law, Nancy Herlihy of Waterville, who also loved her dearly, as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins., At her request, there will be no visiting hours or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to send any type of perennial bulbs or plants to be planted around our home. There was nothing more that Tabitha loved than having flowers and plants, and she and her mom enjoyed planting. It would mean a lot to see them blooming every year in her memory. Verna E. "Bonnie" Brooker

BANGOR and ORRINGTON - Verna E. "Bonnie" Brooker, 83, passed away Friday, April 29, 2011, at a Bangor health care facility. Bonnie was born May 31, 1927, in St. Francis, the daughter of Charles and Minnie (Mills) Jones. Bonnie graduated from Madawaska Training School, Fort Kent, in 1946. She was employed at Sears, Roebuck & Co. - first as a sales clerk, then eventually retiring as a department manager after 29 years of service. Bonnie was devoted to her family and her husband of 39 years, Matthew H. Brooker Sr. She loved cooking for family gatherings and her specialties were baked beans and scrumptious desserts. She enjoyed reading, crafts and traveling. In retirement, she and Matt traveled to Hawaii, Europe and the Grand Canyon. She was an active member of Essex Street Baptist Church and participated in Sunshine Class and missionaries at the church. Bonnie enjoyed the outdoors and she and Matt spent many summers in their camper traveling throughout Maine to fish from East Grand Lake, Jo-Mary and Moosehead. Bonnie had a zest for life and welcomed her many friends to her home with open arms and a cheery smile. She will be missed greatly by everyone who knew her. In addition to her husband, Matt, who passed away February 2011, Bonnie was predeceased by her two infant sons from her first marriage, Randy and Scott Viles; and a brother, Harold Jones. She is survived by her beloved sister, Mary E. Gray of Orrington; sons, Brad Viles of Ellsworth, Matthew H. Brooker Jr. and wife, Diane, of Waterboro, James J. Brooker and wife, Suzanne, of Veazie and Michael P. Brooker and wife, Jennifer, of Bangor; 10 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews. The family thanks all those at Dirigo Pines, Orono, as well as East Side Rehabilitation and Living Center, Bangor, for their loving care of our mother.
